Theatre SQY

The project develops as an invitation to engage in new configurations and uses of public space. Our aim is to offer a system open to all kinds of activity. The extension project is the theatre's projection into the public space, a resolutely urban act. The building itself is a theater of public space.

The project also involves the creation of a new arch: it blends form and function, echoing the formal creativity of Stanislas Fiszer's work, but also the creation of a double-balcony restaurant, overlooking both the newly-created antechamber - the foyer inhabiting the void between the extension and the original theatre - and the newly-created restaurant.

The project offers a simplification of uses, proposes a café close to the square, organized in such a way that it can easily be transformed into a multi-purpose, hybrid place; a sort of small metropolitan lounge. It's also the antechamber to the main hall. This reconfiguration of flows highlights the beauty of the main staircase, with its intricate detailing.

Quite simply, it's a series of balconies, locations, rooms and framings, presenting a view of both the theater and the city.
