Maison Internationale de la recherche

Cergy International Research House

The MIR (Maison Internationale de la Recherche / International Research House) program is already very dense and the specific requirements of each of the entities exposed very clearly in the preliminary work. Therefore, to imagine a relevant solution we visited the site, met with the users’ expectations, in order to offer them maximum comfort, and the most pleasant and malleable use possible. Create in a way a building tool dedicated to the efficiency and desires of researchers.

The project is a living sky. The transparency of its facades, gives views over the landscape and openess towards the street. It is based on a balance between a general, architectural and spatial atmosphere, but also on an individual, localised, humanised light.

Ceilings are the visible identity of the project, seen both from the street and from the plateaux. They are used as transmitters, vectors of light. They become the sole source of lighting : a sky.

The whole interacts with the sky and offers a quality of light adapted to the times of the day, the evening and the night.
