Al Nouri complex

The Al Nouri Mosque was one of Mosul's most iconic monuments. As the main mosque in the city, its minaret was one of the main urban spatial landmarks. As a result we view this reconstruction, above all, as an urban project, an opinion on a territory and a testimony for the city.

The architectonic elements ensure a symbolic continuity as a deposit of fragments trapped in the sedimentation of time, then frozen by a concrete material which positions them in their initial place, making them visible.

Our project is conceived as an act of reparation, symbolically and physically, which operates at the scale of the monument but extends to city and de facto to the entire country - whose main challenge today is reinventing its future.
