Palma House

Palma House

The site is located on the heights of the island of Mallorca, in a rural region marked by mountainous topography. Two projects have been developed in parallel incorporating the following variants.

It is the very particular context that first shaped the house, making a discreet and respectful element in the center of a raw landscape.

First, it seeks to fit into the existing topography, becoming an amplified geography, whose generic form (the rectangle / the line) structures the site and integrates nature. It is a game of fullness and emptiness, of light and shadow, of construction and wildness that carves a house that is both strong and light.

It is also an update for the vernacular elements of the traditional architecture in Mallorca. It is based on the artistic and constructive invariants which mark the cultural identity of the island, while seeking to reinterpret them in a contemporary language.

All these principles mark a naturally social house, where the inhabitants and their guests can live within this context, going from a room to a patio, from the kitchen to the terrace, from the swimming pool to the forest on a gentle journey, slowly and naturally.
